The sound of the bat as it smacks the ball out into the field is just one thing that fans of baseball enjoy. What is so amazing is that Americans have been enjoying this experience since the 1700s! The game evolved into what we know as baseball by the time of American Civil War, and since then it has been just winning more fans and enthusiasts.

It went "professional" during the 1860s, and today there are Major and Minor league teams that draw millions of fans each season. Though you can find local baseball games of all kinds - from the "little league" games at local schools to some Minor League teams playing in many smaller cities - there really is nothing like a true MLB or Major League Baseball game experience.

Each team builds its own stadium or ball park and these can become places just as famous as some of the players on the teams themselves.

Anyone who goes to Boston, as an example, can make a visit to the famous Fenway Park to watch the Boston Red Sox. The park has its "big green monster", which is the wall surrounding the outfield, it has "Pesky's Pole" for one of the team's most famous players, and there are many tours of the entire site each day.

This sort of thing could be said about many of the existing original parks, but some of the new parks have a lot to offer as well. According to Travel + Leisure, some are even drawing new crowds to the seasonal games by offering some of the best local foods in their respective cities. For instance, Turner Field (home to the Atlanta Braves) serves some of the most famous burgers in the country.

Naturally, it isn't the food that brings people to the MLB games; it is the games and the players. There are thirty MLB teams divided up into the National League and the American League. Further divisions are made by regions and include East, Central, and Western divisions.

With games happening in 17 different states and around 160 games per team, per season, it is easy to find a way to enjoy at least one live game each year. With great stadiums, amazing athletes and teams, and even some pretty choice foods to enjoy, make sure to hit at least one MLB game this season!
