Amazingly good looking and remarkably talented, it almost seems as if Carrie Underwood is just too lucky. The winner of the fourth season of "American Idol" she has since become a global success with platinum selling albums, a long list of awards under her belt, and all of this before the age of 30. Fans of the country crooner can catch a live performance when she embarks on her 2016 "Storyteller Tour - Stories in the Round."
What is it about Carrie Underwood that has allowed her such tremendous success in only 10 short years? It has to do with that voice. This is what has enabled her to find immediate stardom in the world of country music, but it is also behind her crossover success into the world of contemporary pop music too.
To list her other major accomplishments seems like too much. After all, the woman was nominated for a Golden Globe, has won Entertainer of the Year twice, has been included in the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, has won Grammy Awards, and has had the fastest selling album of all time. She is also one of the few country stars to get a song on the Billboard Hot 100.
There are even more accomplishments, and this is significant when you consider that (as People magazine explains) "before auditioning for American Idol...[Underwood] was just a small-town Checotah, Okla. gal who attended Wednesday night prayer meetings and competed in local talent shows."
She did indeed sing for local events and was encouraged to audition for a record company as a teen. This didn't pan out so she went to school and eventually heard of the "American Idol" auditions. She won the competition in May of 2005 and had her first single on the air by June of that same year.
Her astonishing good looks have also opened the door to an acting career and she has made TV as well as Broadway appearances with great success. Her personal life is rarely in the press, and she married a professional hockey player in 2009. She is a big advocate of the vegan lifestyle and animal rights, and often speaks out on these issues.
She is a humble and yet remarkably gifted performer. Her music is of the highest quality and she has created a major fan base that includes country and contemporary music listeners.
