The Chicago Blackhawks were founded in 1926 and have been always been known by the same team name. The franchise is fifth in National Hockey League history in Stanley Cup Finals appearances with 12 and wins with five. During the 2012-13 season, the Blackhawks completed a tremendous run through the playoffs and won the championship in six games against the Boston Bruins. The team has also won 15 division titles since the league started keeping track and have reached the postseason 57 times.

The franchise has retired numbers for eight legendary players including Bobby Hull, Tony Esposito, Glenn Hall, Keith Magnuson, Stan Mikita and Denis Savard. Over the years, they have seen some of the greatest players in the league strap on their skates including Chris Chelios, a former team captain that was the face of the franchise for most of the 1990s. The team is also the home to some of the best players in the league including Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and Patrick Sharp.

Toews has been the captain of the Blackhawks since 2008 and at the age of 25, has another decade left in the sport to become one of the best of all time. He is one of the most popular players on the Blackhawks and one that has received numerous awards and honors from his days as amateur and as a professional. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion and the recipient of the 2010 Conn Smythe Trophy.

Ever since 1995, the Blackhawks have played their home games at the United Center. The facility was opened in 1994 and is also home to the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association. With standing room set up, the arena can fit nearly 22,500 crazed hockey fans that make the United Center one of the most difficult arenas to compete in for the opposition.
