The New York Knickerbockers were founded in 1946 and have proudly been considered the kings of New York ever since. The team will now have a local rival in the Brooklyn Nets, but for the time being, the Knicks are still the team to beat in New York. The Knicks have won two NBA Championships (1970 and 1973), eight conference titles and five division titles.

During the history of the Knicks, there have been nine players that have had their numbers retired and several others that have been enshrined in the Naismith Hall of Fame. Many Knick fans will remember their stars like Patrick Ewing, Willis Reed, Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe.

One of the most popular players in the history of the franchise is Ewing. The former Georgetown star played the first 15 seasons of his career with the Knicks, but unfortunately, could never help lead the team to an NBA title. He was an 11-time All Star, NBA Rookie of the Year and earned his way onto the All-NBA First Team in 1990. Ewing is one of the best big men all of all-time and is a top-10 player in the eyes of most fans. The Knicks play their home games in Manhattan at the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. MSG is also home to other teams including the New York Rangers, St. John's University and is the occasional home to World Wrestling Entertainment shows. The current MSG was opened in 1968 and has undergone several renovations in the past 20 years. There are no bad seats at the Garden and this arena should be on the bucket list of every sports fan.
