Sister Act Tickets

Millions of movie fans loved the 1992 film, "Sister Act". This spurred the creation of a sequel film a year later and also led to the creation of a musical that opened on Broadway in 2011. Now there is a national road tour of the show about to kick off and it promises to be as fun, entertaining, and impressive as the version running on Broadway. The tour opens in Los Angeles in July of 2013 and then has stops in more than a dozen states before closing out in June of 2014 in Texas. (read more below)

Why would you want to see the show? If you were a fan of the film, you might remember that it centered around a lot of excellent music. It features Whoopi Goldberg as a woman on the run, but she is also a lady who does a 60s stage show too. This allows the soundtrack of the film to incorporate some truly beloved classics.

The lead character is forced to go into hiding in a local convent, and she takes up the role of choir director. Hilarity ensues and the nuns even go so far as to head to Las Vegas to save their new friend.

The Broadway show stays true to the original, and incorporates some powerful new songs that keep audience members tapping their toes and enjoying the impressive choreography. Naturally, many want to know if the show is as good as the film, and the simple answer is that the five Tony Award nominations that the show garnered should answer that question.

The Broadway San Diego website describes the Sister Act show as a "feel amazing musical comedy", and with an Academy Award winning composer (Alan Menken) it isn't hard to see how this would be such a great experience. It is also one of the few family friendly shows of its kind, and is suitable and entertaining for people of many ages.

If you are a fan of Broadway musicals, high quality singing and dancing, and a fast paced story that keeps you on the edge of your seat, this is the musical to view. It is going to make many stops as it tours the United States, and it remains in most places for several nights. Be sure to catch it if it is nearby since it is similar to the movie but includes some impressive original music written by one of the theater's greatest musical treasures.
