It might be tough to imagine ice hockey in Florida, but the Amalie Arena in Tampa, FL was built especially for it. It is the official home to the Tampa Bay Lightning (a National Hockey League team) and it is also designed to serve as the home of the Tampa Bay Storm (an Arena Football League team) as well. It is more than just a sports venue for these teams, however, and was named as the fourth busiest arena in the entire country by a regional travel blog in 2010. This venue was originally known as the Tampa Bay Times Forum before the name change to Amalie Arena.
While sporting events are a major focus, it is also known for being the location of choice for rodeos, political events, and headlining concerts. Some pay per view events also occur here due to the excellence of the facilities.
There are three seating configurations available - the seating for Concert events, the seating for Storm events, and the seating for Lightning events. Each relies on the Terrace, Club, PNC Bank Club, Promenade, and Floor seating options. There are also premium seats available in Executive Suites, Lofts, and Party Suites which can be rented for all events or shows.
The Amalie Arena is also known as a one stop destination that offers a large number of dining options on the premises. This makes it remarkably easy for fans and guests to enjoy a good meal before heading into a show. Some of the most well known chain restaurants are available as well as the full service Firestick Grill restaurant that accepts reservations and which opens two hours before games and events.
Located in the popular Channelside district of Tampa, the forum is ideally suited for family activities. It is close to all of the major entertainment spots, including an aquarium, the Plaza, and the Port of Tampa. This means that visitors can easily spend a full day in the area around the venue and then head over for the show or the game.
For anyone interested in a modern and well designed venue for enjoying a lot of professional sports, the Tampa Bay Times Forum is an ideal choice. If it is to catch a headlining performer or a family friendly show, it is also a great option. It is conveniently located in the downtown area of Tampa and close to many other attractions and venues. It is close to all kinds of shopping and dining and is near the channel and park areas that ensure a good time for all.
